Born in Cairo we moved to the UK as a family when I was nearly 6 years old for my father to pursue his medical career. He died suddenly when I was 11 years old and I know this was a pivotal moment in my own life story. As the middle child I had always felt I'd struggled to find my voice in the family so I took on the role of 'mother hen' or psychologist as I'd like to think now.
My grades plummeted at school and I left feeling total shame at my intellectual failure. It took me 10 years working to find the inner strength to start afresh and enrol on a Psychology degree at 28 years old. I needed to prove to myself I could get the academic credentials, which only a PhD would afford me! I know my self-sabotaging behaviour has shaped the person I am today, the way I parent, and how I deal with life's invariable challenges.
It is my heartfelt belief that these self-sabotaging behaviours are what hold us back as parents from achieving all we can, as a mother and a woman. Since 2006 I have been running a thriving practice delivering my integrated programme with consistently positive results.
